    hello everyone.

friday was a bad day. it started off with me tripping over the toliet door, the train breaking down, with me alighting at kallang only to board the next train. it was packed like sardines so i got pissed and alighted at lavender to take a bus. my shoe was soaked with rain and when i alighted, i got stared at by a butch. maybe because she saw me watching her dig her nose in public. and i was 1 hour and 15 mins late. and then, came the big hoo ha with carlsberg and apb over the conflict of interest. we have tried all our might to convince that it's only a hosting job and not representin the brand anyway. but then again, who asked my other boss not to sign the bloody contract. my client was then extremely nice to send us an email clarifyin the engagement. to further "enhance" my day, i haven't been briefed by Ling on other jobs that she forgot to inform me. client called and all i can do is to help her try. and the job's on tuesday. i had already 1000000 things to do and my boss is chasing me for our dept report. it's been 3 weeks late but seriously do i care. if i'm so busy, my boss can jolly do it but did she initiate. hip hip hurray no. and lastly, remember the client, jason tan, turns out he's only 24, called me at 10.10pm to flirt, thinking that i've got the mood and time. it was all good harmless fun until he literally called me back twice and gave me his private number. seems like the line's bit crossed. finally the day ended and i went to bed with a queasy stomach.

my bud is hoping that i can jump with her over to far east org. should i? for the money of course. remember, that i used to want a career, it turns out that i only want the money. my resume's updated.

i met up with nat, my br today. it's been ages since we properly hanged out and it was great. every single moment. everything's covered, from work to boys to gossip. it's like girl bonding. these are the times that you must always cherish because you will never know when will be the next time again. wah damn emo. aiyah it's those like u long time no hang but when u hang, it's like damn fun kind. though somebody can imitate my style pretty well on the phone, "eh wait ah, sorry ah go on go on, .....no no cannot, ok call this number, tml i help u check, paiseh ah to disturb ah ok thanks bye...." then i'll put down and have this apologetic look on my face. i have a love hate relationship with my phone. it's times like these that we must make a point to do it.

credits: nat's casio super clear, image enhancing every spot camera.

i think we needed an umbrella this weekend.

Revealed: Topshop clothes made with 'slave labour'
Claire Newell in Port Louis, Mauritius and Robert Winnett

ONE of Britain's richest men is profiting from Asian workers paid less than £4 a day to make clothes for his latest Kate Moss range for Topshop.

Factories supplying Sir Philip Green, who is based in Monaco and is worth nearly £5 billion, employ hundreds of Sri Lankan, Indian and Bangladeshi workers in Mauritius where they labour for up to 12 hours a day, six days a week.

Workers told The Sunday Times that they were recruited in their home countries by self-employed agents who promised wages up to five times what they receive. They pay up to £725 to get the job, equivalent to seven months' earnings.

Once in Mauritius they receive as little as 22p to 40p an hour, about 40% below the local average wage. In at least one firm salaries are set according to race, with those from Bangladesh paid substantially less than Sri Lankans.

Green, rated seventh in The Sunday Times Rich List, largely avoids personal tax by paying dividends to his wife, Lady Tina, who lives offshore. In 2005 she was paid £1.2 billion, which amounted to £3.3m for every day of the year.

He told a reporter last week that he was having a marvellous time on his yacht off the coast of Turkey. A colour-ful character, he likes extravagant gestures. He spent an estimated £5m flying 100 friends to his 55th birthday party in the Maldives earlier this year where they were reportedly entertained by George Michael and Jennifer Lopez.

Confronted by The Sunday Times over the workers' allegations, Green told one reporter that he had previously threatened to punch her colleague "on the nose . . . and throw him out of a window".

The factories in Mauritius produce clothes for his firm, Arcadia, which owns Topshop, Topman, Burton, Dorothy Perkins and Miss Selfridge.
Last year Green signed up the super-model Kate Moss to design a range of clothes for Topshop.

Critics say the low wages and long hours amount to "slave labour".
Neil Kearney, of the International Textile, Garment and Leather Workers Federation, said: "Because of the economic conditions of a country like Mauritius, companies are unable to attract local labour. Instead they recruit migrant workers, who pay a significant fee for the job. Many migrant workers who go to work in these garment factories are like slaves."

Workers making his clothes, many of whom were fearful of talking to a reporter, described how they are kept in crowded dormitories and work from 7am until late. "When I go to bed at the end of the day, I lay down and weep," said one woman.

"There is a lot of pressure on us to get our targets. If we do not reach the target of 50 pieces [segments of T-shirts] per hour, then we are sent back to our dormitories and suspended," she claimed.

The woman, a Bangladeshi worker at Compagnie Mauricienne de Textile (CMT), which makes clothes for Topman, said she had to work 12-hour days for £64 a month.

A worker at Star Knitwear, which makes T-shirts for the Topshop Kate Moss range, said they were paid £112 a month - equivalent to about 40p an hour. The T-shirts are sold in Topshop for £12.

There is growing concern within the UK fashion industry over the use of Third World labour. Jane Shepherdson, who resigned from Topshop as brand director last year, said consumers cannot keep buying cheap clothes and "not ask where they come from".

Green does not own factories which manufacture clothes for his high street stores. He instead uses a network of independently owned factories which make garments to specifications provided by the tycoon.
The process is supervised by Arcadia staff.

Arcadia is one of the few high street retailers which has not signed up to the ethical trading initiative, which sets out minimum standards and whose signatories include Next, Marks & Spencer, Tesco and Asda.

Instead, Green's company has drawn up its own code of conduct for suppliers. This stipulates that employees should not work more than 48 hours per week. However, CMT confirmed last week that its workers were contracted for up to 70 hours, while Star said its employees usually worked 60 hours.

Yesterday Green said he was treating the allegations seriously and would investigate. He said that monitoring conditions in factories he did not own was a complicated process: "I am interested in getting things right. We have processes and procedures which all factories sign up to.

"I sent inspectors to factories to look at the working conditions, to see that they are not working in sweat-shops, that the working conditions are good. I can't stand there and count how many hours people are working. Last night I interviewed a woman who was there four weeks ago. She said the factory was in excellent shape.

"You are telling me that factories are happy to breach our code of conduct. I've got to look into it."

A spokesman for Moss declined to comment.

happy belated 42nd birthday singapore. hey, you survived the floating stadium! your fireworks bit short though, for a moment, i thought i heard my parents' tax money screaming. for that kind of money, next time your fireworks can be bit longer k.
see the interesting videos at www.fly.com.sg

like everybody else, i followed my aunts and cousins and some 10000000 people to esplanade. red, white everywhere and for once i thought is the world abundant with red dye? no tickets (btw i didn't ballot this year because i didn't know when it started, not enough publicity), so went to watch fireworks for free. and we settled at the grass patch opp swissotel, where i got accquainted with ants and spiders.

as you can see, i'm not a very outdoorsy person, unless i get paid. next year, pls remind me to stay home, watch tv and get accquainted with my bed.

sian, tml goin back to work. i reckon my shell would be there, my soul and mind be gone.

can i say that 881 rocks. please go watch the movie, 881. story's predictable and simple but the acting and the songs. i dare say it's worth your $9! mindee and yann yann put up such a great performance and for once, i'm damn proud of them. i never thought well of qi yu wu, but after watchin, ok he looks damn cute. hot body. and that my friend, you should know it equals to coughs gay coughs. i'm just speculating. i had my events boss sit on my left and my own boss sit on my right. and they took turns to sms to god knows who and everybody knows i can't stand people who sms in the cinema. so i took turns to cover my eye to avoid light, imagine when they simultaneously smsed. it's like shielding my eyes from the sun.

i er, cried like 5 times during 881. my own boss spent half of her time digging out for tissue. -.-" and she sniffed all the way, come to think of it, quite funny. even my big boss cried. some scenes were very touching and some were hilarious. and the soundtrack, i had it on repeat the whole day on wed. it's like i'm learning hokkien.
i mean the proper conversational one, i think i'm good with the OTHER kind of convo.

you know, after the egg-throwing incident, i felt it was my duty to go see them in some roadshows. not all simply because i dont have the strength and time during weekends. but then again, who can or will judge what kind of events/roadshows to have a chaperone there? anyway at the roadshows, besides looking out for their welfare and appearance, i also triple up as their bodyguard (to look out for egg-throwers and SOME fans) and ardent fan (in case nobody scream for them and everybody busy screaming for qi yu wu). my life is such.

but it's ok, because i'm a fan of 881, are you?

rush hour 3 was okay, typical slap stick action humour. i can't help but marvel at jackie's stamina. so old but so strong. he used botox issit, can't see no sign of aging. chris tucker got fat, no wonder they were giving out california fitness passes. it's like a sign.

i'm gonna ask for a pay raise after my next appraisal.
$50 - they can take and shove it up and then kiss my ass.
$100 - they can still take and shove it up and then kiss my ass.
    $150 - hmm.
$200 onwards - not bad, can consider. till 9th anni.

my parents are away from 8th aug to 14th aug, they are on their hainan heritage tour with my dad's siblings. talk about 1 week of chicken rice and china people! bet they are having fun. sorry, not really interested cus after the bkk trip, i thought i'll take a break from tourin with my parents and let them enjoy their 2nd honeymoon, get some fire sparking.

god, i'm like super lame. btw, whos uses the word lame nowadays. i'm bit high by the way, from jap food, not alcohol. i wonder what did they put. all the rush, can't sleep much.

my casting call cannot make it, nabei nobody replied can. but i need pan-asiansssssssss. it's your chance to shine! help you help me.

do you know that suddenly, i'm a member of fabulous sunday parties? like i received this newsletter that confirms my existence. well, not that i mind but er this party is for gays. hmm. well i'm open.
update: i didn't get to meet ian mckellen but i watched asian boys vol 3. very good. thought provoking and yet doesn't seem to try to hard at being deep either. tim did a very good job playing a complex charcater and i was impressed. or maybe i shouldn't since he himself is one. oh well.

er, jason and i had an hour of convo because i felt sorry for him that he quitted his job due to office politics. as much as he's a jerk, i'm sorry to hear bout his story on quitting. and he still has a great voice! and he can sing! omg. can i tell u he can. wonder if he would like to be a v/o talent. and maybe despite all that, i still feel for him but in the tiniest way.

i'm a loser. i'm dumb and i'm gonna burn. cannot say hell cus 7th lunar month coming.
